Washington DC Marathon #19

Sorry for the late post, but time seems to escape me so fast now a days.
Well, I did it. With only 12 miles of total training for the year and a crazy out of the blue idea, I ran the Suntrust National Marathon in DC. My 19th marathon. I decided to be kind to my body and run 1 mile and walk a minute. I did this for 10 miles and still felt good. The weather was good and the temperature was just right. It reached a high of 70 degrees. Although I did not run my best marathon, in fact I was over an hour from last year... I still finished it.
The last 6 miles became tough, it was so hot and the sun was just beating down on me that I was so overheated. They had cold water so that helped a lot
I struggled the last 6 miles, my legs were tired but my breathing and my heart was fine.

After the marathon I was fine, just tired. My recovery was great. Sore for one day and that was it.

I don't think I will do this the next time. Training is a must.

Suntrust Marathon -Washington DC 2009, #15, #4 in a row

Hello,
Well, I had another great marathon this weekend, March 21st in DC. There were about 7,000 participant and about 5,000 did the half and the rest did the full. It takes entirely in DC going through all the little neighborhoods. The mayor of DC also ran it. The race shirts were awesome, dri fit ones. They were pulling in all the stops for this marathon since they want to make it as big as NY and put it in the map.

Racing to the finished line

Walking wow

Post race hunger
